SMS Messages

We read financial SMS messages (bank alerts, payment notifications, and transaction confirmations) to automatically import your transactions. This is the core functionality of Xpenda. Users must explicitly grant SMS permission before this feature is enabled.

Important: SMS data is processed securely and may be transmitted to our backend servers for parsing and analysis. Only financial transaction data is extracted - personal messages are ignored and never stored.

  • Device Information: We collect device identifiers for authentication and app functionality.
  • Financial Data: Transaction history, account balances, budgets, and spending categories you create within the app.
  • Camera/Photos: Only when you choose to scan receipts or add attachments to transactions.

How We Use Your Data

  • Import and categorize transactions from SMS automatically
  • Provide personalized spending insights and budget tracking
  • Sync your data securely across your devices
  • Share expenses with family members (Family Sync feature, only when enabled by you)
  • Improve our transaction parsing accuracy and app experience

Data Processing

Your SMS messages are securely transmitted to our servers for processing. We use advanced parsing technology to extract financial information such as transaction amounts, dates, merchant names, and account balances. Non-financial messages are automatically filtered out and are never stored or processed.

Data Security

Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information.

We do NOT sell, share, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your financial data is used solely to provide you with the Xpenda service.

Data Retention

Your transaction data is retained as long as you maintain an active account. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app settings.
